Meet James, Our Cotton Farmer.
From the start, one of our core values has been to work directly with farmers. It was important for us to put a face to the hands that grow your clothing. Kelly grew up in a farming family and is keenly aware that behind every natural fiber is a human story.
And James’ story is one worth telling.
A 4th generation farmer from New Mexico, James leads with his heart. He grew up on a conventional farm - one reliant on pesticides, tilling, and synthetic inputs. Over time, he knew something was off. Things became particularly challenging when his father, Bill, fell ill. And despite using more and more herbicides and fungicides on the farm, his family was still losing the battle... a struggle all too familiar to farmers today.
That’s when James began questioning everything. His search led him and his son, TJ (5th generation), to the revolutionary regenerative work of John Kempf and AEA.
The rest is history.
Today, James is pioneering the future of farming, successfully growing both regenerative and regenerative organic cotton.
USA-grown regenerative organic Pima cotton is a rare commodity, which is why we call James our unicorn.
But James is more than our farmer, he’s become soul family. His passion for the land and his commitment to change extend far beyond his own fields. He’s paving the way for a better system, one that honors the earth, empowers farmers, and gives brands like ours the opportunity to do things differently.
We need to rethink the way we purchase... To consider the full story of how something came to be. Because a farmer grew the garments you wear. Their blood, sweat, and relentless passion are woven into every thread.
Farmers are the backbone of not just America, but of life itself. Without them, we’d be hungry and cold.
At COED, we’re proud to be a farmer-led brand. Because the future of fashion starts with the people who grow it.
